OUR RESPONSIBILITIES as Human Beings

Our Duties are what we do. To Heal, Nurture and Revere are the primary areas of focus. Each Duty is a remedy as well as a solution. They apply equally to self as well as to community and planet.

Our Obligations are what we give full consideration to.
  • Has ecological justice been served?
  • Is the relationship between human and other being(s) reciprocal?
  • Will harmony be established?
  • Will future generations be well served by the decision?

THE RIGHTS & FREEDOMS that apply to all Beings.

Each Freedom arises as a result of the two preceding Rights being satisfied. However a breach of just one Right will still lead to a compromise of that Being’s Freedom. So, if a bug, tree, waterway etc is able to exist in it’s chosen habitat, then the Freedom to Be is upheld. But if the Habitat is destroyed, then that Being’s Freedom to Be has been forsaken.

However, if it can be shown that say, the sea is losing many of it’s species due to over-fishing, and some of those fish have been subjected to restrictive farming practises, then it would be correct to conclude that we as humans have breached the fish’s Right to Diversity and their Right to Ecological Integrity. Thus their Freedom to the Natural Cycles of Life has not been respected.

Another example: Where a tract of forest has had it’s trees razed to make way for mono-crop planting that is heavily reliant on fertilizers and pesticides, the excess of which has washed into the nearby waterways poisoning fish and displaced communities, then various Being’s (soil, water, fish, human etc) Right Not to be Polluted has been breached. Only when Restorative Justice is properly adhered to (the restoring of the soils and water, the replenishment of the fish stocks, re-allocation of local communities and healing of all manifested ills that have arisen out of the pollution) will the Freedom of a Clean & Healthy Environment be satisfied.

Compassion applies to all – even and especially to those whom we perceive to have breached the Rights and Freedoms. Abuse in it’s many forms is a breach of a Being’s Right to Compassion, the ultimate breach of Peace being war. Where Compassion and Peace reign, then the Freedom to Be Loved is upheld.

The Values, Responsibilities, Rights and Freedoms – when all are upheld – amount to Life itself. A life of joy, abundance, happiness.
