So many people have helped me on this journey, out of which some remarkable friendships have taken root. I want to say thank you to you all for the wonderful words of wisdom, support, finance, free time given and belief in the campaign – without which none of this would have come to be.
In no particular order, but in a truly interconnected way, you are all the threads that have made this happen: Ian Lawrie my rock, Cormac Cullinan my inspiration, Joss Ross my Woman Friday, two incredibly wise women – Liz Rivers & Isabel Carlisle, John Sauven of Greenpeace (a special thankyou for opening the door to Marge Glynn and the remarkable footage to use for the video) and of course Marge for the time spent finding me the footage I wanted, Lisa Jackson of Eurydice PR – indeed an oak nymph and sweet maiden, John Scaife (for being so smart!), Jeffrey Newman took me into the heart of the Earth Charter, Deborah Smith for really productive brainstorming – I look forward to us doing so much more. Mike Edge (quietly behind the scenes, but nevertheless a strong and much appreciated presence), Chris Shaw, Peter & Pete Myers – what a solid group of supporters you are, and Peter (so many Peters!). Dave Hampton your indefatigable facebooking is invaluable, and all the Embercombe Climate Storytellers. All the wonderful Wise Women especially the sizzling energy power and humour that is Penney Poyzer – you are such a beacon of light and positivity; space rights boffin Hal White, great words of support from Emily Tutt, my number one tireless promoter and fellow insommniac Diana Korchien, Marchello the dealmaker, Ed Posey (without whom I would not have gotten to Belfast – very important) Liz Hoskens and all at the Gaia Foundation, Tabitha and Lucy Neal my banner creators, Debby-Kay my spiritual advisor, Nick Higgins of Lansdowne Productions for perservering despite being at complete odds with what I am doing, Dr Gerry Wolff who listened patiently to the first conversations on why we need a Duty of Care for the planet, Annette Mercer for prompting the the idea for my first ever Trees talk in December 2007, Lawrence Buckley for making good connections, Moni & Mops for being part of the journey, Peter Eyers of Green Consultancy my international comms man, all the Earth Jurisprudence group at Schumacher, Phil Harris and the ‘Tree conversationalists’ – Ross Weddle and Minty of Ardalanish who generously stoked my fire of tree rights thinking, Simon Hickmott for the magical international Garden of Eden and Roman Marszalek of Dr Logic, the VIP techno geek with juicy creative synapses – and very good fun chum – who expands my vision every time.
Not just people, but places as well – my celtic roots pull me back every so often to Argyllshire, to the the wilderness of the windswept beaches of the Hebrides, the hilltop hikes overseeing sweeping glorious landscapes and the serenity of the Kilmartin Glen where I seek wisdom from the ancient stones with their cup and ring marks. Magical Schumacher provided the visions of the wonderful future that we can create and those I met in the woods therein. Westminster Abbey’s Lady’s Chapel, with it’s magical south-east apsidal chapel draws me back time and again. Lastly, one particular island that shall remain nameless to preserve it’s untouched wilderness and life-changing energy – all equally nourishing.
There is also a wider community out there; Hundertwasser, whom I spent time with in Vienna 19 years ago, first introduced me to the belief that Trees Have Rights Too, Thomas Berry’s The Great Work, and Professor Christopher Stone, who started the ball rolling 35 years ago by asking the question Should Trees Have Standing?. Cormac Cullinan’s book Wild Law says it all.
And of course this one beautiful planet…
Thank you all.
